Meet Artist Jeanne Beuvin of Les Filles Du Surf

We recently caught up with French artist Jeanne Beuvin of Les Filles Du Surf to learn a little more about her artwork and inspiration behind her beautiful designs.

Hey Jeanne, tell us about yourself?

My name is Jeanne and I am 25 years old. I live in Biarritz and I have been passionate about drawing since I was a child. I have been surfing for 5 years. I combined my two passions, surfing, and drawing, to create Les Filles Du Surf. 

What inspires the art that you create?

My biggest inspiration is women. Surfing and the ocean are also a great sources of inspiration.

 What is the biggest challenge you face as an artist/entrepreneur?

The biggest challenge was to make a living from it. I wanted to give everything for my passion, so I left my old job to devote myself to drawing. In the beginning it was complicated, but thanks to my community on Instagram and the support of the people around me, it's now a real pleasure. Today my new challenge is to learn how to organize my work because I am really very very disorganized.

What advice do you have for other artists looking 

I don't know if I'm a good counselor but I think the most important thing is to never doubt your work or your ability to do it. You must never give up.

When did you start surfing?

I really started 5 years ago in Biarritz. I was into kite surfing before, but when I caught my first wave I stopped kite surfing completely.

Longboard or shortboard? 

Longboard. I'd like to learn to a shortboard but I'm too scared of big hollow waves, and I don't have enough strength in my arms at the moment...But it will come!

Dawn patrol or sunset surf?

Dawn patrol without hesitation, there are far fewer people and it is a truly magical moment 

Where is your favorite surf break?

It depends on the day. But the most convenient for me is La Cote Des Basques because I live just above it.

Your favorite quote to live by? 

Living from day to day, I don't know if that's how you say it in English though....
