Meet Artist Oceane Costantini
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
My name is Oceane. I was born in Africa (Guinea) and grew up in the Caribbean (Guadeloupe). I now live in Canada, more precisely in Quebec, where I've learned how cold winter can be!
AN ARTISTIC JOURNEY
As far as I know, I have always loved collecting pencils, crafting, and creating. I studied at university in industrial design and found my path a bit later in graphic design & illustration.
INSPIRATION IS EVERYWHERE
I've been really inspired by the slow living movement lately… slowing down our fast pacing lifestyle to enjoy what we love the most. I've been skating & road tripping way more in the last year, and I guess that's why we see more of it in my illustrations. In general, I love drawing everything that makes me feel good: traveling, surfing, skating, van life, & my plants!
GETTING ARTSY
I used to be way more crafty before, like painting and drawing on paper, but I got hooked on my iPad using Procreate! Most of my drawings are now digital.
I can be ANYWHERE I want. Inspiration comes at any time; being able to draw while traveling, commuting, or chilling on my sofa is a game-changer.
MY ART AND THE FUTURE
I never saw myself as an illustrator before. I guess my background in industrial design/ graphic design and video game artistry always made me feel out of the league. However, I've been illustrating every day for almost 2 years now, and I LOVE it… it's almost like my meditation time. I'd like to expand my art to more products one day, and I'd love to create skateboard decks and surfboard art. I also really want to start my own little brand for T-shirts or stuff like this.
SOME STELLAR ADVISE
Less is more! Most of my illustration reflects it; I like to focus on what's important.... we don't always need extra lines, extra colors. Keep it simple; that's how life should be!
FAV SURF BREAK
Hello, Covid! Surfing in Canada is not that easy, but I do river surf once in a while here in Montreal. On the other side, I started surf skating lately... no more flat days for me!
MUSIC I LOVE
I'm stuck on Clay & Friends lately… can't get enough of "Going up the coast. "
